Full List of Food at 2023 Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party & Fall at Magic Kingdom
Halloween brings new menu items to Magic Kingdom this fall, with 2023 Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party exclusive snacks, entrees & desserts, plus all-day dishes and drinks available August 11 through November 1, 2023. In this food guide, we’ll take a sneak peek at the spook season treats.
Walt Disney World’s culinary teams have conjured up some frightfully fun delights for you to indulge in during your day trip to Magic Kingdom with more special treats during the 2023 Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. During that event, the highlight for many guests is obviously trick or treating, with candy like M&M’s, Snickers, and more.
In addition to that, several restaurants and snack spots will be open and offering even more Halloween-themed items that are available for purchase. If our experiences in the past–and the stock photos and descriptions Disney has shared–are any indication, some of these are treats, whereas some are tricks…
Before we delve into the menus, one returning upcharge within the upcharge event is Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular Dessert Party at Tomorrowland Terrace. This features a variety of Halloween-themed sweet treats and specialty drinks, as well as “exclusive” viewing of the fireworks at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party!
However, Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular Dessert Party at Tomorrowland Terrace once again does not offer reserved for the Boo to You Parade–the lack of this is a big deal. For most Halloween Parties, reserved viewing for Disney’s Not So Spooky Spectacular is totally unnecessary. It is nice for the Boo to You Parade, though. Plus, the reserved viewing area is not a good spot for viewing the fireworks (for the best spots, check out our Magic Kingdom Fireworks Viewing Locations Guide).
In our view, the fireworks dessert party is a waste of money and time during the 2023 Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. We aren’t particularly keen on it during normal nights, but if you’re dead-set on doing the fireworks dessert party in Magic Kingdom, save it for a normal night when Happily Ever After is being performed and crowds for that are worse. It’s literally counterproductive during MNSSHP. (Don’t say we didn’t warn you!)

Ultimately, a healthy number of undoubtedly unhealthy additions and interesting sounding dishes that I’m looking forward to trying. The items that have me most excited are all savory counter service entrees–the sandwiches at Pecos Bill and Cosmic Rays, plus chicken wings–at least one of which will end up being a culinary monstrosity (per usual).
My biggest disappointment is that there isn’t more being offered during regular park hours at Magic Kingdom. I can understand wanting a few party-exclusive snacks, especially photogenic desserts. Those are always a draw at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, and do a little to help with event capacity.
But the savory entrees? There’s no way literally anyone has been waiting to buy tickets to the 2023 Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party until seeing what Pecos Bill and Cosmic Ray’s are serving. Upon arrival, there’s likewise no one whose night will be made by the presence of these entrees.
Meanwhile, the menus at both of these colossal counter service restaurants have been bland and boring since the 50th Anniversary ended and the interesting items from that disappeared; having Halloween sandwiches and wings as all-day options would be a much-needed shot in the arm for both quick-service venues.
Beyond that, I’ve always felt it was odd to have so many interesting seasonal entrees at the Halloween or Christmas parties–the average attendee will try maybe one of them, whereas adding these to regular menus gives locals and Annual Passholders an excuse to make repeat visits to Magic Kingdom to try them all. (And Walt Disney World will need all the excuses they can get to boost attendance in August and September!)
There are a couple other disappointments. First, no cupcake at Main Street Bakery. This was underwhelming last year, so no big year-over-year loss there…but the oversized options in 2019 and earlier were always awesome. Then thee’s the lack of a pumpkin waffle sundae at Sleepy Hollow for the second straight year. This was a real fan favorite option during Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, but I’m guessing it’s gone because of the long lines and chaos it caused in the kitchen.
Ending on a positive note, this looks like the best lineup for savory snacks and entrees in years at the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. It’ll be impossible to eat them all, but at least there are plenty of choices. Then there’s the Apple Fritter Sundae at Plaza, which sounds like it could be a winner. Ditto the Cinnamon Funnel Cake at Sleepy Hollow, which is covered in pumpkin toppings. If those two desserts are executed well, Walt Disney World fans might forget about the pumpkin waffle sundae!

Hey Tom,
Long time reader. I was wondering if they ever replenish or add tickets that are sold out already. My Son and I are visiting and wanted to go on Aug 15 to MNSSHP but is sold out. Is there any recommendation, like do I look every day or a secondary market? Or is that ship saled and no way to get tickets.
Wish there were some plant-based options! Whoppie pies are often accidentally vegan (if using shortening/margarine) so I’m surprised they didn’t go for that low-hanging fruit.
Hi Tom, Do you know if the table service meal at the Beauty &the Beast castle has any Halloween themes or food? They seem to have special reservations during the party. It’s my birthday on Halloween (a big one this year) so I’d love to have some special Halloween foods/treats, but I’m both coeliac and veggie, and not many of the items above look gluten-free and vegetarian. 🙁 Just wondering if the castles partake in the whole Halloween thing or do they stay much the same? I suspect they would cater for allergies a bit better, but I’d hate to leave the Halloween party just for food. Thanks!
The menu doesn’t change for parties so it’s not a good use of party time (eat earlier in the day if it’s important to you). The prix fix menu is a very poor value for vegetarians & vegans, unfortunately. Trick or treating, however, gives the option of vegan & allergy free treats via tokens that you redeem at the end so you should be able to enjoy some special treats that way. The main street bakery carries all the usual Starbucks seasonal drinks (and plant based milks) so you might be able to put together a special treat there as well.
Thank you so much Samantha! Super helpful to know this
Tom, do you know based on past experience what the odds are that some of these savory options can be made not-spicy on request? I’ve got a couple of picky eaters to think about.
My guess is the odds are low. They could maybe leave off some of the toppings/sauces, but anything with spice in the actual item (like the chicken breading or beef patty) is going to be hard to modify because that’s all mixed in batches way before you actually order. So you might be able to get “less spicy” but I doubt you could get a “non-spicy” version.
That said, it would surprise me if even the regular versions of these are super spicy, blow-your-palette-out kind of hot. If only a couple of items were advertised as spicy I could see them maybe pushing the heat level, but with so many of the savory items being in that vein I suspect they will be conservative to try and appeal to as many people as possible. Just a guess though.
I miss the poison apple cupcake. 🙁
YES! That was one of my all-time favorites. The Hocus Pocus one in 2019 was also great, despite turning my mouth purple.
Are there any vegan items – doesn’t sound like it. That’s very poor.
The strawberry and jalapeño jam tombstone sounds interesting! Sweet & spicy is always a great combination. Also, I’ve been to the Magic Kingdom over twenty times and have never had a cinnamon roll. Maybe this year I’ll try the one with the orange icing. That looks good too!
I loved the cake that looked like an ear of corn that they had last year. It was SO good! I wish they’d brought that back.
I made a lot rookie mistakes at last year’s MNSSHP, one of them being waiting too late to place my mobile order. I wanted to do my usual plan of grabbing something en route to staking out my spot for the parade and fireworks, that way I’m not wasting valuable party time eating and instead doing that when I would otherwise just be waiting around. But when I went to place my order (about halfway through the party), there were no more slots available for the rest of the evening. Luckily we had a big meal before the start of the party or else I would have gone hungry, minus the trick-or-treat candy. This year I’m going to make sure to place my order early and just set pick-up for a later time. I don’t know if this is a common occurrence or not (it was very rainy that night, so a lot more people might have opted to just give up and go eat instead of running around the park).
It wasn’t just you–that happened through the MNSSHP and MVMCP season. My hope is that was a staffing shortage issue, and not purposeful. Character meet & greets were also understaffed last year during party season–both during the day and during the event. Not enough Cast Members to cover regular ops and the extra hours.
Seems like something they’d address, as running out of Mobile Order slots is leaving money on the table. Hard to believe that was deliberate, but who knows.
I don’t think I saw anything plant-based…that wouldn’t normally be plant-based.
RIP any allergy or plant based options despite the wide variety in general. Overall very fitting for Magic Kingdom’s food selections though the party options are admittedly more colorful than the regular daytime fare at the park. One day, one day, MK will have QS and special event options that can rival QS locations like Satuli, Docking Bay 7, or some food booth creations from Epcot festivals.
Definitely some things in there I could go for. Doesn’t it seem a little odd that there’s nothing Haunted Mansion themed even with the new movie coming out?
i say every year they need more savory options. this was a pleasant surprise.
