Disney World May 2012 Trip Report
Our May 2012 Walt Disney World trip was highly anticipated for us (isn’t every Disney trip?!) and it did not disappoint! Between Flower & Garden Festival at Epcot and Star Wars Weekends at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, plus the Deluxe Disney Dining Plan and hotel stays at Disney’s Port Orleans – Riverside and Disney’s Beach Club Villas, it was one action-packed long weekend! Did we eat our weight in food on the Deluxe Dining Plan? Was Tom killed in an epic light saber duel with Darth Vader? Do we now own a Hyacinth Hippo topiary? How many dozens of alligators did we see at Port Orleans Resort? Discover the answer to these exciting questions and more by reading our trip report! 😉
Note: Due to some overwhelmingly positive feedback regarding our trip reports on our Facebook page (it was very flattering, thank you all!), expect to see numerous trip report updates for this trip and our subsequent Disney California Adventure Grand Re-Opening trip posted this month. These trip reports are incredibly time-consuming to create. Given the work that goes into them, we would greatly appreciate it if you’d share any trip report posts that you like on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc., via the social media buttons on each installment to help spread the word about them. We also love when readers leave comments, which let us know that people are actually reading the trip reports!
Bookmark this page as it will be where we organize the updates in one convenient location. Links will become active as the Parts are posted.
Part I – Late Night Fun
Part II – Morning Extra “The Force” Hours
Part III – First Visit to Storybook Circus…DUMBO 2.0!!!

If you just can’t get enough trip report fun, “Like” the DisneyTouristBlog Facebook Fan Page to see preview images from the trip report!
I have one suggestion. Can you specify (in the beginning of the 1st part of a trip report) how many parts there are to this specific report? I was a little lost with the pages and then I found a part 6 that I didn’t even know existed. Now i’m finding myself looking for more parts because I don’t want to miss anything.
Thank You =)
I’m new to these trip reports and I must say that I really enjoyed reading them. I can’t wait to start reading older trip reports and the trip report for your Tokyo trip (when it becomes available). Thank you for the time you take to put these together and posting them for us. We really appreciate it.
P.S. Your photos are amazing!
Tom that jacket is one of the coolest things I’ve seen in a long time and I have to say that I am pretty envious. I enjoyed reading about your lens splurge because I am currently going through the same crisis with the 5d that I was recently given and I have no idea which lens to purchase.
I’m more of a lurker when it comes to posting on sites and boards, I don’t have a facebook, but I LOVE your trip reports! I check your site as part of my daily “work” schedule. Thanks for all your hard work!
I’m glad that the rest of Facebook agreed. Your Trip reports are awesome! I still re-read the old ones.
Enjoyed Part 1 greatly. I don’t know how you have so much energy after you get in. I’m pretty wiped out after traveling.
I have a love/hate relationship with your trip reports.
I love the reports, the photos, and hearing about your great discoveries in the world.
I hate that my next trip isn’t until Christmas! I know what you mean about the excitement of planning. We’ve got all our plans done, our ADR’s made, air flights have been reserved and now all I have to do is sit and wait. It’s killing me.
I’m also greatly looking forward to your California trip report, so I can start work on our plan to visit DLR next spring.
Thanks for your great reports!
SOOOOOOO glad you’ve resumed your trip reports – was a bit alarmed when I saw the facebook post about you not being sure if people liked them, ‘cos I sure do!
Off to boil the kettle then I’ll settle down to read part one 🙂
Beautiful picture of you two!! I love your outfits and the setting. This is definitely a framer!
I can’t wait to read your latest trip report installment! I really appreciate all of the time and work you put into them – I enjoy reading them so much and living vicariously through you. THANK YOU for taking all of the time to post them and giving the rest of us such a treat. I get so excited when I see you’ve posted a new one!
This photo is from after our meal at Yachtsman Steakhouse. One of the things we used to love doing on our trips is getting dressed up for a date night. We brought that tradition back! 🙂
I love reading your trip reports! They always give me new ideas of what to try (and what’s not worth trying) and most importantly they get me through Disney withdrawal in-between trips!
Always enjoy reading your trip reports
Tom and Sarah,
I also speak for my wife when I say the following: Your trip reports get us through the gaps between our own Disney adventures! When we read the trip reports it’s like we are also at Disney; the reports certainly make our “Disney-Must-Do” (and must-see) lists more fulfilling! Thank you guys, keep it up!
Kevin and Katie
Thanks! To me, we love Disney “Must Do” lists. We’re actually working on a Disney Bucket List, too!
I really do enjoy your trip reports. I can understand how time consuming they must be to produce, though. Have you considered doing a Photo Trip Report? Combine quick candid shots of attractions (even just snapped with your iPhone), restaurants, etc. with your beautiful composed shots. Make it into a (chronological) slideshow, and add a narration over it. I know this would be quick and easy to pull together on a Mac. I think you could even record Voice Memos while you are there (for any little fun details you don’t want to forget), and even import those into Garage Band to be used in iMovie.
Although I do a podcast, I hate the sound of my own voice. I far prefer writing. If I did a photo report, I’d have to pay someone else to narrate, in which case I’d still have to write the script! 😉 Good suggestion, though!
I’m anxiously anticipating these trip reports! I love living vicariously through you guys, and stealing your ideas to improve my own trips, so load it up with details and pictures!
Agreed 🙂
